Cold Spring
Bottled mineral (mostly surphur) water from Cold Spring was sold
thoughout the eastern United States. A 200 room resort hotel had a dance hall,
bowling alley, and bath house. Israel Brandt was the propriator in 1864-5. He
was later hanged as one of "The Blue Eyed Six" after a famous
murder trial. A series of fires brought about the demise of the hotel before 1900.
Camp Shand, a camp for boys, existed here in the 1920s and 30s.
